Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions about TfR’s work supporting church and community groups that you may find useful. However, if you have any specific queries, or would like to find out more about how TfR may be able to support you and your organisation then please feel free to Contact Us.

Q: Which communities do you work in?

A: At present the majority of our work is carried out in support of churches and projects located within deprived communities. These are defined by the Church Urban Fund as being communities located within the poorest 10% of areas within England. Historically these areas suffer from above average levels of social and economic exclusion, as characterised by high unemployment, low skill and qualification levels and high percentages of residents claiming benefits.

Q: Do you support Church and community projects located outside deprived areas?

A: Yes, all church groups are welcome to contact us to discuss their project ideas and the type of support available. Fees may be charged in some cases although the initial discussion will be free of charge.

Q: Do you work with Church and community projects outside South Yorkshire?

A: Tfr is able to work outside South Yorkshire. If you are interested in exploring this possibility please contact Joanne Archer.

Q: Do you work with other faith / secular community groups?

A: Tfr is looking for opportunities to expand its work with other faith groups and secular organisations. If you are interested in exploring this possibility please contact Joanne Archer.

Q: Can TfR support us with our Church building project?

A: We are able to work with some building projects that address a clear, identified community need. Support for other types of building work and projects may be available through denominational structures (eg Diocese, Methodist Circuit, etc)
